Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst supports the development, maintenance, and advancement of the GIS; integrates field data collection, system administration, application development, spatial analysis, and cross-functional coordination to ensure accurate, accessible, and high-quality geospatial data and services.

  • Perform GPS-based field data collection and surveys to create, update, and maintain GIS datasets, including development of data dictionaries and coordination of field activities
  • Maintain and update GIS data layers to reflect construction, maintenance, and system changes; develop and implement data maintenance strategies, workflows, and procedures
  • Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to support data accuracy, continuity, and enterprise GIS needs
  • Design, customize, and support GIS applications, user interfaces, and web-based tools to enhance accessibility, usability, automation, and data integrity
  • Develop, integrate, and manage GIS databases and data systems, including identification of authoritative data sources and data modeling
  • Administer GIS platforms, including user and group management, data integration, and publishing of maps, services, and basemaps
  • Create and distribute high-quality hardcopy, digital, and web-based maps; perform spatial analysis and develop geoprocessing tools and workflows to support planning and operations
  • Provide technical support to GIS users, internal teams, vendors, and external partners, including data access and distribution
  • Develop and document GIS procedures and workflows, and implement QA/QC processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability
  • Coordinate GIS activities across teams, Information Technology, and stakeholders; support governance practices and data-sharing initiatives
  • Enhance and integrate enterprise GIS systems by evaluating performance and recommending improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging GIS and data collection technologies to improve workflows and expand system capabilities
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
