Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Facility Condition Assessment Specialist provides technical services to clients in the form of conducting facility condition and environmental assessments, reviewing construction documents prepared by design professionals, assisting clients with development of assessment criteria, and assisting clients with development and maintenance of building standards.

  • Collaborate with engineers to implement a facility condition assessment program for clients; conduct on-site facility condition assessments throughout PA to identify, assess, prioritize, and document a written description of deficiencies
  • Enter the deficiency data into a web-accessible software solution in a timely manner to support the development of client maintenance and capital budget plans
  • Serve as part of a team to develop and implement an environmental assessment program
  • Travel throughout PA to conduct on-site assessments; apply assessment criteria jointly developed by the unit and the client
  • Communicate with client when non-compliant conditions are observed
  • Work with client to develop methods to improve non-compliant issues
  • Review building construction documents, inclusive of project plans and specifications prepared by design professionals, in order to verify accuracy and conformity with building construction codes, industry preferences, and client standards
  • Provide written documentation of non-conforming issues for review by the Engineering Supervisor
  • Advise client through timely, succinct, and straightforward communication; prepare written correspondence that will effectively communicate technical solutions
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate engineering students
