Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Academic Course Coordinator provides instructional support for assigned courses; collaborates closely with faculty and college partners to ensure effective course delivery; supports course planning, scheduling, and logistics; manages instructional resources, course information, and data within course delivery systems; recruits, trains, and supervises teaching assistants; upholds standards of academic integrity, professionalism, and excellence.

  • Provide academic support and coordination for assigned courses; collaborate with faculty on course planning, scheduling, and logistics; oversee the administration of course assignments, announcements, materials, and resources
  • Recruit, train, and supervise teaching assistants; maintain access; build collaborative and supportive teaching assistant teams; disseminate information to ensure consistency; deliver training and learning opportunities to discuss best practices in instruction and student support; ensure an efficient flow of information between teaching assistants, faculty, and students
  • Maintain course documentation including rosters, participation data, and grades
  • Communicate with students regarding course and academic issues/concerns; meet with students to provide academic support and guidance and conduct grade reviews; assist in resolution; elevate to faculty and others as required
  • Manage course information within electronic systems/ platforms; update the course delivery site to ensure relevant, accurate content and a positive user experience; identify opportunities to increase clarity and streamline communication
  • Compile and analyze program data including grades, survey data, and student ratings; provide analyses to faculty/college in order to inform program direction and instruction methods
  • Facilitate and model a culture of academic integrity, excellence, accountability and professionalism for both teaching assistants and students; align efforts with college and University academic values and goals
  • Maintain partnerships with college departments and university units, such as Undergraduate Studies, honor and research institutes, and enrichment programs, in order to advance course and student success

Works under minimum supervision on varied and sometimes difficult work assignments, conferring with supervisor or subject matter experts on unusual matters. Supervisory Responsibilities:
– May serve as lead support staff and/or provide basic direction to lower level support staff
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers or volunteers
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Handles financial transactions
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)

– Encounters generally routine problems; occasionally faces more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows recommended course of action and procedures to resolve problems
– May use experience to resolve more complex and/or varied problems, with supervisor oversight

Salary Structure

  • MidPoint – $51,600.00
