Job Summary

Asset Management Managers oversee the team responsible for tracking capital assets including land, buildings, improvements other than buildings (infrastructure), and equipment. Team responsibilities include tagging; conducting physical inventories; maintaining electronic inventories; recording transactions; preparing and submitting reports; liaising with government personnel and property auditors.

Representative Duties

  • Oversee and mange the asset monitoring operations to include statutory, regulatory, and University policy requirement compliance for accountability records related to land, buildings, improvements (roads, parking, sidewalks, and other infrastructure), movable, and fixed equipment
  • Hire, supervise, advise, develop, and evaluate asset monitoring and related staff
  • Coordinate and monitor the proper tagging of capital assets; analyze purchase orders, gifts, internal transfers, general services, and purchase card transactions; record transactions into electronic database and onto property control forms
  • Oversee assigned area finances including budget management, development, planning, and reporting
  • Verify equipment ownership—University, government, sponsor, or leased/loaned; ensure written approval is acquired to transfer, loan out, upgrade, disassemble, dispose, destroy, trade-in or sell government owned/sponsored equipment
  • Establish, implement, and evaluate best practices and protocols; recommend changes to improve requests, verification of source documents, approval of correspondence, and electronic tracking systems
  • Conduct periodic physical inventories; make corrections to inventory reports; update tags and electronic database; notify appropriate personnel of discrepancies; follow-up as needed
  • Conduct periodic or upon request internal audits; identify shortfalls and provide resolutions to facilitate compliance
  • Act as liaison to government personnel and property auditors
  • Keep abreast of statutory and regulatory changes; assist with updating University policy; implement appropriate notifications
  • Develop, plan, and organize training programs; provide virtual or in-person training

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Oversees a team (typically 4 or more; no fewer than 2) full
– time direct reports of individual contributors and/or first level supervisors.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks department/area budget
– May plan, forecast, and/or assist in developing budgets
– May have final signature authority for specific area

– Encounters varied and complex problems
– Helps to develop creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature but within limited scope

  • Minimum – $68,200.00
  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
