Job Summary

The Dietitian provides individualized nutrition services to a defined population, applying knowledge of principles and best practices from the field of nutrition. This position maintains records of communication, responds to special dietary requests and food allergy needs, makes recommendations regarding nutrition habits, serves as a resource, and conducts educational programming in the nutrition and health related fields.

Representative Duties

  • Provide individual dietitian services; maintain records of communication according to University policy and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
  • Develop and conduct nutrition-related educational programming, including workshops and cooking classes
  • Contribute to maintenance of the nutrition and allergen databases; research, define, verify and, update the nutritional and allergen information of products
  • Develop nutrition related health communication materials
  • Assist with the development and implementation of nutrition-related initiatives, including outreach events
  • Serve as a consultant and resource to students, faculty, and staff about nutrition-related health promotion initiatives
  • Collaborate with clinical providers and counselors to deliver high quality services
  • Assist with needs assessment, evaluation, and quality improvement of nutrition services and programs
  • May serve as a member of the Health Promotion and Wellness staff; provide input to strategic planning, services, and programs
  • May oversee budget, ordering, inventory, and stock of nutrition related services or programs

Base Description:
– Supervises direct reports, but primarily completes activities, tasks, and/or projects of a functional nature.
Level Summary:
– Demonstrates appropriate knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)

– Encounters generally routine problems with progressively more complex and/or varied problems

  • Comp Grade – 9
  • Minimum – $56,200.00
  • MidPoint – $68,800.00
  • Maximum – $81,500.00
