Inventory Control and Distribution Specialist – Supervisor (PSU1938)

Job Summary

Inventory Control and Distribution Specialists monitor supply, equipment, product, material and other resource inventories; keep electronic databases updated; process requests and track orders; forecast inventory demands and product availability; assist with quality assurance programs; oversee product take back, reuse, recycle, and similar programs; research and communicate product information and alternative solutions; resolve or refer discrepancies.

Representative Duties

  • Monitor organizational product and resource inventories; coordinate with management to ensure inventories fulfill customer requirements; add new items and delete obsolete items; monitor and adjust stock levels to meet seasonal and overall product and material needs
  • Maintain electronic database; record and update product nomenclature, pricing, codes, etc.; conduct spot checks and oversee physical inventories; address and resolve inconsistencies
  • Process supply, equipment, product, and material requests; track orders and invoices; ensure timely shipping and delivery; prepare and maintain contracts, transactions, and regulatory compliance documentation
  • Address and resolve order, inventory, shipping, delivery, and stock issuance discrepancies; refer issues to management as needed
  • Help ensure product availability; forecast and communicate inventory demands to vendors/suppliers; alert management of short-fall concerns
  • Keep customers informed of product line extensions, recalls, phase outs, or new product launches; research, identify, and propose alternative product solutions including biodegradable, non-toxic, or other environmentally friendly items where available
  • Oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibility disposed; suggest recycle or reuse opportunities to minimize new material consumption, reduce waste, or convert waste to by-products
  • Complete appropriate paperwork related to handling inventories and maintaining electronic inventory systems and/or web pages
  • Assist with quality assurance; monitor and record vendor and carrier performance; provide feedback; make improvement recommendations; as necessary identify, qualify, and recommend new vendors to management and customers

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 7
  • Minimum – $46,400.00
  • MidPoint – $56,800.00
  • Maximum – $67,300.00
