Job Summary

The Medical Assistant supports medical technologists and physicians in the preparation and analysis of biological specimens; collects, prepares, and processes samples under supervision of laboratory technicians; conducts CLIA waived tests; documents test results; ensures compliance with laboratory procedures and standards.

Representative Duties

  • Prepare biological specimens including collecting and processing samples; draw and collect blood
  • Measure vital signs; gather medical history; record and update patient’s medical record
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory specimen procedures including proper handling, preservation, processing, transportation, and storage
  • Guide patients through the collection process and instruct on proper collection methods
  • Perform CLIA waived analysis tests on specimens; interpret and document test results; prepare reports
  • Perform quality control checks; adhere to health and safety guidelines
  • Maintain awareness of latest industry trends, techniques, and best practices
  • Prepare laboratory equipment to ensure proper function; monitor inventory of supplies

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 5
  • Minimum – $38,300.00
  • MidPoint – $46,900.00
  • Maximum – $55,500.00
