Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Health and Wellness Manager provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive health promotion, prevention, and wellness programs that advance student success, well-being, and a healthy campus environment; oversees the delivery of evidence-based health promotion services and prevention initiatives addressing physical, emotional, social, and behavioral health, while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and University policies and regulations; collaborates with University leadership, faculty, staff, students, healthcare professionals, and community partners to develop and implement strategic wellness initiatives that promote healthy behaviors, reduce health risks, and enhance the overall student experience across the University; provides administrative oversight for multiple programs, budgets, and professional staff; establishes standards for assessment and continuous improvement; serves as the University's subject matter expert on student health promotion, prevention, and wellness initiatives.

  • Provide strategic leadership for comprehensive student health promotion, wellness, prevention, and public health initiatives that support institutional priorities, student success, and holistic well-being
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based wellness programs and services addressing topics including alcohol and drug prevention, nutrition, recovery support, tobacco cessation, sexual health, mental well-being, problem gambling, violence prevention, and other emerging student health concerns
  • Oversee the daily operations of health promotion and wellness services, ensuring programs are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with professional standards and best practices
  • Direct strategic planning, program development, quality improvement, and assessment efforts using research, data analytics, student feedback, and national best practices to measure effectiveness and inform continuous improvement
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic adviser on health promotion, prevention, wellness, and public health initiatives; provide consultation and recommendations to leadership regarding emerging health issues, regulatory requirements, and institutional priorities
  • Lead University-wide health education, prevention, and intervention initiatives, including required educational programs, recovery support services, alcohol and drug prevention efforts, and campus-wide wellness campaigns
  • Provide oversight for institutional compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, and coordinate required reporting, assessments, and biennial reviews
  • Develop, implement, interpret, and monitor departmental policies, procedures, and operational standards to ensure compliance with University policies and applicable regulations, including HIPAA, FERPA, and other privacy and confidentiality requirements
  • Oversee the security, confidentiality, and integrity of student health promotion records, program documentation, and related reporting systems
  • Develop, administer, and monitor departmental budgets, cost centers, grants, and funding sources; establish annual spending plans, monitor expenditures, ensure fiscal stewardship, and align financial resources with strategic priorities
  • Lead the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of specialized programs, including collegiate recovery services, alcohol and cannabis education and intervention programs, peer education, nutrition services, wellness coaching, and other health promotion initiatives
  • Supervise, mentor, develop, and evaluate staff through performance management, coaching, succession planning, and professional development, while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment
  • Provide leadership for the expansion and coordination of health promotion and wellness programs across University campuses through collaboration with leadership and community partners
  • Build collaborative relationships with campus departments, healthcare providers, faculty, student organizations, and external agencies to coordinate integrated approaches to student health and wellness
  • Monitor emerging research, public health trends, regulatory changes, and higher education best practices to ensure programs remain current, innovative, and responsive to student needs
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret program outcomes, utilization data, and assessment results; prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate program effectiveness and support strategic decision-making
  • Develop educational materials, outreach strategies, communication campaigns, and prevention programming that promote healthy behaviors and increase awareness of available wellness resources
