Job Summary and Representative Duties

The International Immigration Manager provides leadership, operational oversight, and subject matter expertise for the University's employment-based immigration program; manages a team responsible for advising, petition preparation, regulatory compliance, and institutional representation in federal immigration systems; ensures institutional compliance with complex federal and state immigration regulations, including requirements of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Labor (DOL), and Department of State (DOS); serves as the University's expert on employment-based immigration matters and provides policy guidance to senior leadership and key stakeholders; represents the institution in external legal and professional forums.

  • Lead and manage the University's employment-based immigration advising and petition program; serve as the subject matter expert on employment-based immigration
  • Establish strategic direction, goals, and service delivery standards for the International Faculty Advising (IFA) employment-based team
  • Ensure university sponsored immigration processes comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulatory agencies
  • Monitor evolving immigration regulations and assess institutional impact; implement procedural updates and policy revisions accordingly
  • Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and case management systems
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development planning to assigned staff
  • Allocate caseloads and ensure timely, accurate petition preparation and filing
  • Review complex cases and provide high-level guidance on eligibility determinations and filing strategies
  • Oversee advising regarding nonimmigrant visa classifications, maintenance of status and dependent matters, employment-based permanent residence pathways, and sponsorship processes and timelines
  • Counsel academic departments, Human Resources, and hiring managers on visa strategy, eligibility, and institutional obligations
  • Serve as designated institutional representative in federal immigration systems (e.g., SEVIS and other case management platforms)
  • Liaise with Faculty Affairs, HR, Payroll, and the Office of General Counsel on complex immigration matters
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with immigration related requirements including Labor Condition Applications (LCAs), public access files, and audit documentation and retention protocols
  • Maintain accurate institutional and federal reporting records
  • Develop internal compliance review processes and audit preparation practices
  • Respond to internal and external audits, government inquiries, and institutional risk assessments
  • Monitor expenditures related to filing fees, legal counsel, software systems, and operational resources
  • Develop and deliver training programs; create and update communications including newsletters, website content, procedural guides, and orientation materials
  • Generate reports and provide data analytics related to immigration trends and institutional sponsorship activity
  • Advise senior leadership on compliance risks and strategic direction; develop institutional policies and procedures

  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
