Job Summary

The Risk Management Specialist analyzes and evaluates University exposure to varied risks. Responsibilities include identifying and analyzing risks; advising on risk management; tracking data and evaluating trends; collaborating with internal partners, insurance brokers and insurance carriers; serving on risk management team(s); conducting outreach and training.

Representative Duties

  • Identify, analyze, monitor, and respond to financial, operational, perimeter, strategic and other University risk exposure including claims costs, liability judgments, management change or reputation loss, etc.
  • Provide risk elimination, prevention, reduction, transfer, mitigation, and other risk management advice
  • Collaborate with internal partners; assist with benchmarking, contract review, claims/litigation activities, safety/security risk analysis, etc.
  • Serve on risk management team(s); participate in risk management and insurance program development; provide new services and program integration advice
  • Monitor and track data; detect and evaluate trends to direct loss prevention and mitigation efforts
  • Collaborate with insurance brokers/carriers regarding University activities, loss prevention/control, and policy implementation/renewal
  • May assist with underwriting submissions and insurance proposal reviews; process insurance renewals; monitor invoicing and policy issuance
  • Maintain awareness of industry standards, statutory/regulatory changes; update manuals, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness; involve all University stakeholders in day-to-day risk management; conduct outreach and training
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

– May monitor/track budgets and funding

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 13
  • Minimum – $86,300.00
  • MidPoint – $107,900.00
  • Maximum – $129,500.00
