Electrical Distribution Supervisor – Senior Supervisor (PSU2456)
Job Summary
The Electrical Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the electrical distribution systems across the University Park campus. This includes the campus’s high-voltage and low-voltage electrical networks, transformers, substations, and associated equipment. The supervisor leads a team of electrical technicians, ensuring that electrical power is consistently available to support university operations; ensures compliance with safety regulations; oversees troubleshooting and repairs; coordinates maintenance and system upgrades to support the university's long-term needs.
Representative Duties
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of the university’s electrical distribution systems, including substations, transformers, electrical panels, circuit breakers, and distribution lines
- Supervise, lead, and mentor a team; assign tasks, set performance goals, and monitor work progress
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure communication and updates on ongoing projects or issues
- Ensure the electrical system reliably supplies power to campus, including academic, administrative, residential, and recreational facilities
- Monitor electrical load demand, performance, and system health; adjust operations to ensure efficient power distribution
- Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance and necessary upgrades to minimize disruption to university operations
- Ensure staff are trained on new technologies, safety protocols, and best practices in electrical systems maintenance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal electrical safety regulations, including OSHA standards, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), the National Electrical Testing Agency (NETA), and university safety policies
- Enforce safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and high-voltage safety measures
- Oversee and conduct regular safety inspections of electrical equipment and systems to identify potential hazards or concerns
- Lead emergency response efforts in the event of electrical system failures or safety incidents
- Oversee troubleshooting and repairs of electrical distribution issues, minimizing downtime and service disruptions across campus
- Respond to emergency calls related to power outages, electrical faults, or equipment malfunctions, ensuring quick and efficient resolution
- Collaborate with other departments or external contractors for complex repairs or projects that require specialized expertise
- Prepare regular reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and repairs; provide updates to senior management on the status of electrical infrastructure
- Work with engineering and construction teams to ensure that new buildings or infrastructure projects integrate seamlessly with the existing electrical distribution network
- Assist in developing and managing the budget for electrical distribution operations
- Ensure that appropriate inventory levels of electrical components and equipment are maintained
- Adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in grievance procedures

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 12
- Minimum – $76,700.00
- MidPoint – $95,900.00
- Maximum – $115,100.00
