Chilled Water Plant Supervisor – Supervisor (PSU2470)
Job Summary
The Chilled Water Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and supervision of the university's chilled water plant systems; ensures the efficient and reliable production and distribution of chilled water throughout the campus, supporting the university’s academic, research, and administrative buildings; leads a team; collaborates with other facility departments; ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Representative Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the chilled water plant, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime
- Supervise, lead, and mentor a team of plant operators and maintenance technicians; assign tasks, set performance goals, and monitor work progress
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure communication and updates on ongoing projects or issues
- Manage the production and distribution of chilled water to various buildings across campus, ensuring temperature control standards are met
- Monitor system performance, overseeing necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and meet campus cooling demands
- Schedule preventative maintenance on chilled water plant equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, controls, and associated systems; ensure that all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications
- Oversee the troubleshooting of equipment failures; coordinate repairs and replacements as needed
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations regarding water usage, emissions, and refrigerants
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation for regulatory compliance and auditing purposes
- Promote and enforce safe work practices within the chilled water plant and across campus facilities
- Collaborate with efforts to optimize energy usage and minimize operational costs
- Track and report energy consumption, suggesting improvements for sustainability and efficiency
- Prepare and submit regular reports on chilled water plant performance, maintenance activities, and system status
- Communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders, providing updates on system outages or disruptions
- Assist with the planning, installation, and commissioning of new chilled water systems and upgrades to existing infrastructure
- Assist in developing and managing the budget for chilled water plant operations
- Adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in grievance procedures

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 11
- Minimum – $68,200.00
- MidPoint – $85,200.00
- Maximum – $102,300.00
