IT Project Management – Principal Manager (PSU2507)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
IT Project Management Managers oversee a team of technical project managers and support staff responsible for the delivery of IT projects; establish project management and quality standards and methods that ensure on-time and in-scope delivery; oversee the development of technical estimates, work plans, methodologies, and deliverables; conduct skills assessments, training, and initiatives to develop the project delivery team; monitor all project milestones and design of technical status reports; ensure that risk is analyzed and mitigated for each project; has deep and broad knowledge of technology. Note: This profile is intended for professionals with specific training and experience in project management methodology; Project Management industry certification strongly preferred (e.g., PMI).
- Direct the work of project managers, including hiring, development, and performance management
- Lead project management, integrated logistics support, and/or quality assurance activities for the unit
- Incorporate the goals and mission of both the unit and the customer in all work assignments and procedures
- Assist in developing the strategic vision and goals of the division
- Participate in the strategic planning process and provide input into strategic decisions for unit(s) or user group(s)
- Establish and coordinate improvements to project management processes and procedures for the organization
- Review progress of projects and recommend and support improvement strategies where needed
- Evaluate and initiate the change processes necessary to enhance programs
- Serve as consultant for new technological advances particularly those using integrated technologies and services
- Analyze and evaluate vendor proposals for related work; determine the feasibility of proposals and provide or evaluate cost benefit analysis
- Meet with various customers to analyze needs, design, and develop technical solutions
- Prepare various reports including budget reports and project or program plans
- Maintain an awareness of developments in the industry concerning hardware, software, development trends for growth
