Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Human Resources (HR) Compliance Associate is responsible for supporting and monitoring HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as higher education regulations and institutional policies; ensures the institution meets regulatory and audit requirements.

  • Monitor and support institutional compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Develop and conduct regular compliance audits of HR processes; identify compliance risks, gaps, and areas for improvement; recommend and help implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal audits, external reviews, and regulatory inspections
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to HR team members, managers and employees regarding policy and statutory requirements to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks and processes that are subjected to compliance monitoring
  • Conduct cyclical compliance audits; propose improvements to existing audits; develop and implement new audits to identify and remediate compliance concerns
  • Keep abreast of statutory and regulatory compliance requirement changes; assess impact on university processes and disseminate information to relevant parties
  • Effectively communicate and respond to Tier 2 inquiries as a subject-matter expert regarding compliance requirements and issues of concern
  • Collect and analyze compliance-related documentation
  • Conduct reviews of compliance processes and engage with stakeholders; make initial determination of compliance/non-compliance; assess and determine the appropriate remediation for non-compliance instances; communicate necessary action to appropriate management and monitor through to resolution
  • Initiate and assist individuals with the renewal or completion of various background check requirements during employment or engagement with the University
  • Assist with scanning, indexing, and/or purging of HR records
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Level Summary:
– Demonstrates appropriate knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)

  • MidPoint – $60,216.00
  • Maximum – $71,340.00
