Job Summary

The Athletic Facilities Specialist oversees athletic facility operations including scheduling, program set-up, arranging work crew and other logistical needs to ensure safe occupancy and customer satisfaction; establishes and enforces athletic facility safety policies and procedures; develops and/or works from a maintenance plan and organizes general facility services such as janitorial or inspections; develops athletic facilities budget and manages operational income, expenses, purchases, and fundraising.

Representative Duties

  • Manage procedures for athletic facility operations including facility usage, inventory, safety, and resources
  • Oversee daily maintenance procedures including temperature control, facility access, inventory, and record keeping related to facility usage
  • Coordinate membership and registration administration procedures, sales systems, and facility usage schedules
  • Develop the facility marketing and advertising plan, create marketing materials, create website content, and facilitate visitor tours
  • Coordinate with technical staff, janitorial staff, and grounds crew to ensure that facilities are ready for events, tournaments, practices, and clinics
  • Ensure that facilities meet University and NCAA standards for hosting events
  • Follow maintenance guidelines and make service requests for designated athletic facilities, assist with the development of the facility maintenance plan, manage facility inspections
  • Maintain equipment; determine purchasing needs for equipment and apparel
  • Develop safety policies as appropriate, coordinate overall site safety of facility, conduct site and facility equipment inspections
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Base Description:
– Supervises direct reports, but primarily completes activities, tasks, and/or projects of a functional nature.
Level Summary:
– Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. May demonstrate subject matter expertise. Demonstrates intermediate to advanced planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating skills. Demonstrates the ability to coach assigned employees. Assigns and reviews completed work to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards. Trains, coaches, mentors, and motivates staff. Anticipates potential problems, issues, and opportunities; researches and recommends solutions within defined policies. May develop creative recommendations for solving problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Professional track, performs work at the Senior Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
– May assist in planning and forecasting budgets

– Encounters moderately complex problems
– Applies general precedents and practices and specialized knowledge and skills to resolve problems

  • Comp Grade – 11
  • Minimum – $68,200.00
  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
