Job Summary

The Facilities Representative Manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls the strategic direction and major work activities of large scale facilities operations; directly or indirectly oversees staff involved in the design, construction, coordination, modification, maintenance, and administration of University facilities and equipment; serves as the senior point to contact for the Office of Physical Plant; manages the unit’s facilities team; develops plans and programs responsive to present and anticipated space and facility requirements; formulates and monitors University facility standards.

Representative Duties

  • Manage, mentor, and supervise the unit’s facilities team, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions
  • Oversee, coordinate, and maintain equipment, furnishings, supplies, and inventories
  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers; seek feedback to continually improve quality of services
  • Steward program initiatives including but not limited to safety, security, space allocation, asset management, energy conservation, and sustainability
  • Oversee compliance with applicable University, government, and regulatory requirements, such as health, safety, and environmental; serve as liaison with external agencies; report violations using proper protocol
  • Collaborate with the Office of Physical Plant on large scale facilities and maintenance projects
  • Participate in site identification, selection, and acquisition activities to ensure the most economical application and utilization of institution facility resources
  • Evaluate proposals and bids for various design, contracting, and follow-on services as required
  • Analyze estimates and provide recommendations for bid acceptance on construction/renovation and/or capital projects
  • Review preliminary and final working drawings for adherence to specifications, design considerations, and cost criteria
  • Develop budget analysis and definition of project plans, both short- and long-term
  • Coordinate construction activities to ensure attainment of budget and schedule objectives
  • Manage emergency response and disaster recovery plans, in coordination with the appropriate University offices
  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, including forecasting and monitoring expenses; evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions for facility operations and improvements
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies

Supervisory Responsibilities:

– time direct reports of individual contributors and/or first level supervisors.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks department/area budget
– May plan, forecast, and/or assist in developing budgets
– May have final signature authority for specific area

– Helps to develop creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature but within limited scope

  • Comp Grade – 12
  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00
