Job Summary

Equal Employment Opportunity Specialists (EEO) work across the University to direct and oversee functions such as equal opportunity, access, and compliance with federal and state laws; conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of complaints and concerns; ensure that all members of the University community are equally able to engage in their educational and occupational pursuits.

Representative Duties

  • Collaborate with University partners to ensure fair practices, maintain institutional compliance, and foster a supportive and equitable educational and workplace environment
  • Work with partners in the review, assignment, investigation, and resolution of complaints of discrimination/harassment and reports of bias; evaluate evidence, interview witnesses, and document findings thoroughly and impartially
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and other relevant stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Ensure the investigation process is timely, fair, and adheres to all relevant legal and institutional standards
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records related to investigations, findings, and related documentation
  • Collaborate in the review and revision of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices
  • Ensure new University policies, programs, and procedures adhere to Equal Opportunity Employment (EEO) principles and continuously monitor for compliance
  • Collaborate in the development and provide education and training for University employees to foster a climate of respect, inclusion, and belonging
  • Advise on and assist in establishing programs to ensure equal opportunity and access
  • Analyze trends or patterns in complaints and investigative findings to identify opportunities for institutional change; prepare and submit reports to leadership
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations for upholding equal employment opportunity

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Validates and pays invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets and funding
– May plan and forecast budgets

– Encounters complex and novel problems
– Applies policies, practices, specialized knowledge, and skills to resolve problems

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 14
  • Minimum – $97,100.00
  • MidPoint – $121,400.00
  • Maximum – $145,700.00
