Library Operations Supervisor – Supervisor (PSU0237)
Job Summary
The Library Operations Supervisor directs the daily service operations of a library department, branch, or campus location; supervises part-time and full-time staff including staffing schedules, training, and workflows; monitors the department budget; collaborates with management on establishing and assessing unit plans.
Representative Duties
- Facilitate and lead the daily operations of a department, branch, or campus library location; coordinate services including circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, outreach, acquisitions, catalog maintenance, and collection maintenance; develop and implement operational procedures
- Supervise student and part-time employees, and/or full-time staff; responsible for all hiring, scheduling, performance evaluation, and training activities; approve timecards; design and deliver development opportunities; determine workload allocations; manage daily workflows to ensure quality service results
- Oversee public service points; provide support to students, faculty, and community users; resolve patron concerns; instruct patrons in the use of technology and equipment; administer policies for library users
- Maintain and manage the department or library budget; contribute to budget planning and forecasting; allocate resources; make purchasing recommendations; and approve expenditures
- Collaborate with management on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of unit priorities, long range goals, assessment metrics, and procedures to best serve patron needs
- Serve as liaison between a branch, campus, or department library and central units including University Libraries; promote unit initiatives and programs
- Maintain unit records; compile and analyze data; prepare reports; develop and maintain process documentation, library guides, and information resources
- May assess, research, and recommend emerging technology; develop and deliver technology training for library areas

- Supervisory Responsibilities:

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 6
- Minimum – $42,100.00
- MidPoint – $51,600.00
- Maximum – $61,000.00
