IT Generalist



Job Summary

The IT Generalist performs overall information systems planning, implementation, and administrative procedures in a variety of IT functional areas (systems design, systems and network administration, programming, and consultation); provides operational infrastructure support, maintenance, troubleshooting to ensures optimum utilization of IT resources; involved in various aspects of hardware/software/vendor selection, security, training, coordination and scheduling of IT initiatives.

Representative Duties

  • Evaluate hardware and software for use in moderately complex or complex information technology systems and solutions; interface with vendors as necessary
  • Work with users to analyze their requirements
  • Develop design requirements and prototypes
  • Configure and maintain network devices, server hardware, operating systems, and associated services
  • Participate in developing plans, schedules, and requirements for the deployment and lifecycle of systems
  • Ensure security of network assets; conduct regular reviews of security levels delivered against policy goals
  • Design, test, debug, install, implement, modify, and support new or existing applications software
  • Develop and maintain custom programs and scripts to aid in systems management
  • Implement security policies and protocols of the department
  • Participate in user account administration, file rights management and backup/recovery policies and procedures
  • Participate in the development of appropriate technology solutions for information delivery and/or learning environments
  • Provide custom reports and data analysis
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex information technology issues
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor or mentor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets and funding

  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
