Business Intelligence Specialist – Intermediate Professional (PSU2200)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
Business Intelligence (BI) Specialists play a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making and drive business performance; leverage advanced BI technologies to design, develop, and maintain scalable business intelligence solutions, ensuring that data is accessible, accurate, and aligned with the university's objectives; collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify analytical needs, resolve technical challenges, and deliver intuitive visualizations and dashboards.
- Leverage advanced business intelligence (BI) technologies and methodologies to transform complex data sets into strategic and actionable business insights that support organizational growth, innovation, and data-driven decision making
- Lead the strategic design, architecture, and continuous enhancement of scalable BI systems and solutions that support enterprise-wide data gathering, storage, and analytics
- Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to identify strategic objectives, gather business requirements, and define data-driven outcomes
- Conduct end-to-end data analysis using statistical, predictive, and mining techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities; translate findings into recommendations related to business decisions, performance, and strategic planning
- Design and deliver compelling data visualizations and dashboards, supplementing them with high-level narratives to contextualize findings and inform key strategic decisions
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of BI applications through rigorous testing, troubleshooting, and optimization; work closely with technical teams to resolve system issues and enhance capabilities
- Maintain documentation within BI systems including advanced logic and formulas, stored procedures, queries, and custom scripts
- Serve as a trusted adviser to users, providing consultation, training, and support in the effective use of BI tools to elevate organizational data literacy and decision-making maturity
- Build and optimize pipelines and data models that support real-time analytics, integration with data warehouses, and efficient data consumption across platforms
- Monitor emerging BI technologies, tools, and trends; assess their applicability to the university's strategic direction and guide the adoption of future-ready BI solutions
- May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 11
- Minimum – $68,200.00
- MidPoint – $85,200.00
