Job Summary

The Food Service Management Trainee Program provides orientation and training for approximately the first year of employment designed for those interested in a career in university and college food services. Assist in overseeing food service operations at specific residential or retail dining locations. Food Service Manager’s primary responsibility is creating an environment for excellence in customer service through product and services oversight, effective personnel supervision, regulatory compliance, cost containment, business growth and trend awareness.

Representative Duties

  • Work closely with Food Service Managers in overseeing day-to-day operations at specific residential or retail dining locations
  • Ensure established food quality control procedures are upheld and comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Develop and maintain an environment where both internal and external customers are a top priority
  • Collaborate in the financial success of the operation through cost containment and business growth
  • Research, develop, and market new products, menus, recipes, and concepts
  • Participate in departmental and University wide initiatives and committees
  • Assist with special events and catering functions and complete special projects
  • Participate in ordering and management of inventory and supplies
  • Assist with hiring, training, coaching, supervising, scheduling, evaluating, and performance management

  • Minimum – $42,100.00
  • MidPoint – $51,600.00
  • Maximum – $61,000.00
