Venue Manager – Manager (PSU2561)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Venue Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, finances, management, service success, and strategic direction of a premier entertainment venue; leads a diverse team, ensuring exceptional guest experiences; maintains venue safety and efficiency; drives revenue growth; collaborates with event promoters, artists, vendors, and staff to deliver world-class events and maintain a top-tier venue.
- Oversee programs, operations, and use of an entertainment venue; manage the administration and operation of service areas including event management, concessions, merchandise, facilities, and catering.
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of events such as concerts, athletic events, live performances, and community gatherings
- Work with external promoters, artists, and event planners to ensure seamless coordination and successful event delivery
- Ensure event logistics, including ticketing, security, facility readiness, and concessions are aligned with the event's requirements
- Oversee financial health of the venue; develop budgets; make recommendations to increase profits and develop cost containment strategies; promote venue services offered in order to support business development goals
- Monitor and report on revenue generation (ticket sales, concessions, sponsorships) and expenses
- Develop, implement, and assess procedures and services that improve the customer experience
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of venue service areas; serve as point of contact for inspections; maintain compliance documentation
- Lead or collaborate with facility teams to ensure all equipment, lighting, sound, and staging are in good condition
- Provide input and recommendations for facility planning projects
- Collaborate in emergency preparedness, including security protocols, crowd control, and health and safety practices
- Maintain risk management procedures and ensure the arena adheres to all insurance, licensing, and compliance requirements
- Work with the marketing team to promote events and develop strategies for increasing ticket sales and attendance
- Oversee point of sale (POS), inventory, and cash handling procedures
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and media outlets to increase brand awareness and the venue's reputation
- Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees; recommend, plan, and coordinate professional development opportunities; adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions
