Occupational Health and Safety Manager – Senior Manager (PSU2293)
Job Summary
The Occupational Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure a healthy, safe, and compliant work environment for all employees; identifies potential hazards, conducts safety audits, and ensures adherence to local and national safety regulations; investigates and monitors workplace incidents and recommends corrective actions as needed; maintains records and prepares reports for regulatory agencies; stays current on safety trends and legislative changes; manages a team of safety employees.
Representative Duties
- Lead department and staff; hire, develop, and conduct performance management
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the strategic safety plan focusing on the recognition, evaluation, and control of all hazards, and the protection of employees and the University community
- Develop, implement, and manage occupational health and safety policies and programs in line with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Oversee employee training programs; keep employees abreast of the overall mission, vision, and goals for safety
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Develop, implement, and manage injury and illness prevention programs by performing root cause and failure analysis for incidents
- Manage the implementation of risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and emergency response plans
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety performance and accident prevention
- Advise senior leadership on safety program issues and the effectiveness of injury prevention strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Operations, and Facilities, to address safety concerns and improve overall safety performance
- Manage departmental budget
- Stay current with changing safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices, ensuring the organization remains compliant

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 14
- Minimum – $97,100.00
- MidPoint – $121,400.00
- Maximum – $145,700.00

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience
10+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience
