Medical Technologist - Pathology – Professional (PSU0043)
Job Summary
The Medical Technologist - Pathology is responsible for proper collection, precise testing, and accurate reporting of clinical laboratory specimens. In addition, the Technologist provides consultation to clinicians regarding laboratory analysis and interpretation of results.
Representative Duties
- Conduct laboratory testing and analysis on medical specimens
- Collect and process specimens, ensure that specimens meet the standards for quality testing
- Perform testing and review accuracy and reliability of results before reporting to a clinician; alerts clinicians of abnormal and critical values
- Responsible for problem identification and resolution with regards to specimen quality, laboratory equipment operation and laboratory information systems
- Oversee quality control; perform proficiency testing and participate in various department continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Perform instrument maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting
- Maintain professional proficiency and competency in the areas of phlebotomy, hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, immunology/serology and microscopy
- May provide guidance and oversight to staff performing phlebotomy

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 8
- Minimum – $51,000.00
- MidPoint – $62,500.00
- Maximum – $74,000.00
