Job Summary and Representative Duties
Medical Technologists perform laboratory tests and procedures to help diagnose, treat, and prevent disease; are responsible for the proper collection, precise testing, and accurate reporting of clinical laboratory specimens; provide consultation to clinicians regarding laboratory analysis and interpretation of results.
- Conduct laboratory testing and analysis on medical specimens in areas such as phlebotomy, hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, immunology/serology and microscopy
- Collect and process specimens, ensure that specimens meet the standards for quality testing
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests; analyze, interpret, and report results; review accuracy and reliability of results before reporting to a clinician; alert clinicians of abnormal and critical values
- Identify and resolve problems with regards to specimen quality, laboratory equipment operation, and laboratory information systems
- Monitor quality control and participate in quality assurance programs; perform proficiency testing; participate in various department continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure accurate and reliable testing by calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Adhere to laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Maintain documentation of tests, results, quality controls, and instrument maintenance
- Participate in continuing education and stay current with advancements in laboratory science and medical technology

- MidPoint – $62,500.00
