Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Performing Arts Operations Specialist facilitates the planning, operations, community engagement activities, educational initiatives, business operations and funding efforts of a performing arts facility/program; oversees daily operations including scheduling, ticketing functions, and marketing plans; ensures a positive guest experience that encourages long term patronage.
- Facilitate the day-to-day production and business operations of a performing arts facility; contribute to strategic planning, production logistics, contract and policy development, and resource allocation efforts; maintain scheduling systems and production schedules
- Develop programming and events including but not limited to performances, presentations, exhibitions, and productions
- Design and implement programming that cultivates engaged, invested, and sustainable audiences and participants; identify strategies to increase relevance and accessibility by integrating contemporary social and cultural themes into performances, exhibitions, and programs
- Create and execute event marketing plans; manage social media accounts, websites, and email lists; develop strategies to promote events
- Ensure an exceptional guest experience; provide a welcoming and accommodating environment for all patrons; may direct customer services teams and front of house operations
- Implement ticketing programs and provide ticketing services to customers; maintain the ticket management system and website; administer ticketing membership plans; monitor and reconcile ticket sales; compile reports on ticket data
- Ensure facilities are maintained; establish and maintain relationships with internal and external resources for maintenance support
- Administer and track program budgets; participate in fund-raising activities; assist with the preparation of grants
- Initiate and foster relationships with the University community, guest presenters/performers, artist representatives, and external audiences
- Identify and implement cross-disciplinary programming opportunities through residency experiences, academic partnerships, and educational initiatives
- Develop and execute community partnership programming; meet with internal and external partners to identify collaboration opportunities; coordinate planning efforts and align resources; increase the visibility and impact of programs
