Job Summary

Benefits Administrators perform duties related to the benefits programs of the University. This position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs including group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.

Representative Duties

  • Responsible for administering health & welfare and pension benefit programs across the University in accordance with University policies, programs and processes
  • Design, recommend and implement new benefits programs. Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Manage entire open enrollment process yearly
  • Manage retiree process and benefits enrollment
  • Negotiate with vendors and administrators for best plans, options and rates
  • Ensure programs, policies, and procedures support and enhance the goal of achieving a diverse workforce

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets and funding
Problem Solving:
– Encounters moderately complex problems
– Applies specialized knowledge and skills to resolve problems
– Understands benefits, limitations, and impact of potential solutions

– Works independently on moderately complex work assignments, reviews progress, and evaluates results

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 10
  • Minimum – $61,800.00
  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
  • Maximum – $89,600.00
