Job Summary

The Data Analyst gathers and analyzes data from various databases and sources with the aim of providing actionable insights; develops reports, summaries, recommendations, and visual representations; performs statistical programming; develops and/or maintains databases; and advises clients in determining the appropriate analytical methodology to meet their requirements.

Representative Duties

  • Collect, clean, and format data from structured data sources including databases, surveys, or public data; write scripts and run queries to extract and retrieve data
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and availability; identify and resolve errors
  • Use statistical techniques to explore and interpret data, identify trends, and determine relationships; translate findings into actionable business insights
  • Develop charts, visual aids, and dashboards to display and present data results; communicate findings in order to support the decision making process
  • Design and prepare standard and ad hoc reports; develop and optimize reporting processes
  • Meet with clients to determine data needs and project requirements; advise and counsel clients in determining the appropriate analytical methodology to meet their needs and achieve objectives
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management
