Job Summary

The Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services to physically active individuals within the University in accordance with Pennsylvania Practice Act, established by the state board of medicine within the department of the state with the goal of optimizing performance athletic ability. Provide emergency care, develop injury prevention programs for student athletes, assess, treat, and rehabilitate the physically active person whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a certified athletic trainer, with the direction of a licensed physician.

Representative Duties

  • In collaboration with team physicians, prevent, diagnosis, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities as defined by the NATA
  • Determine the treatment/rehabilitation needed for athletic injuries/illness and the athletes’ readiness to participate including pre-participation and post-injury/illness return
  • Supervise the organization, implementation, and review of a comprehensive injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for intercollegiate athletic teams, and club sports
  • Provide athletic training services for athletic events including games, practices, and strength and conditioning sessions
  • Research current methods of treatment and oversee adherence for required certifications and staff continuing education
  • Serve as an educational resource for matters related to Sports Medicine and Athletic Training for personnel internal to and affiliated with the University
  • Perform all aspects of health care administration including maintaining medical records, scheduling health care appointments, and ensure open lines of collaboration and communication with health care professionals and athletic staff
  • Recognize and monitor mental health, nutrition, and other health issues student athletes may be experiencing and refer to appropriate professional for intervention if appropriate
  • Assist in the education and supervision of Graduate Student Athletic Trainers
  • Oversee and coordinate student athlete entrance and exit physicals
  • Contribute to the development of an environment for student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and inclusive
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

  • MidPoint – $56,800.00
