Job Summary

Web Designers design web pages that engage target audiences, drive web traffic, and provide optimal user experience; use knowledge of user interface design and human factors engineering to create visually pleasing web pages with rich content and clear navigational schemes; employ site animation and special effects to create a compelling user experience; test and improve site usability and performance on a variety of browsers.

Representative Duties

  • Design rich media websites and pages including graphic design/layout, user interface features, site animation, special effects elements, video/audio, etc.
  • Design, build, and/or maintain websites using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media
  • Conceptualize, create, and manipulate individual design elements (e.g., audio, video, still images, animation, text, digital data, interactivity, etc.) using graphic/multi-media design software
  • Develop website maps, application models, image templates, or page templates that meet project goals, user needs, and industry standards; design and create wireframes and prototypes
  • Collaborate with web development professionals, such as front-end or back-end developers, to complete the full scope of web development projects
  • Develop and document style guidelines for website content; ensure compliance with accessibility requirements
  • Develop, validate, and document test routines and schedules; ensure websites interface with all browser and device types
  • Conduct surveys and usability studies to ensure website is user centered and meeting the needs of intended audience; monitor site performance
  • Write and edit technical documentation, such as user manuals, testing protocols, and reports
  • Research and apply innovative solutions for product design, visuals, and user experience
  • Understand business goals and translate goals into key performance indicators (KPI)
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

  • Minimum – $61,800.00
  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
  • Maximum – $89,600.00
