Job Summary

The IT Consultant works with user groups to solve business problems with available technology including hardware, software, databases, and peripherals; services may include studying and analyzing needs; input into systems development; systems process analysis, design, and re-engineering; feasibility studies; developing requests for proposals; evaluating vendor products and making recommendations on selection.

Representative Duties

  • Partner with end users to gather and understand technology needs, issues, and requirements
  • Identify, analyze, and recommend technology solutions to meet the business needs and provide solutions that support organizational strategies
  • Conduct feasibility studies for projects, develop requests for proposals, evaluate vendor products, negotiate with vendors and make recommendations on selection
  • Track timeline of deliverables; manage and provide regular communication to the end user regarding timelines, issues, and delivery
  • Provide expertise and experience in the implementation of a variety of products or service technologies
  • Serve as a liaison between end users, technical teams, and vendors
  • Consult on new technologies to ensure the product or system is functioning and meets the requirements of the user
  • Create and update service-level documentation for new and existing technologies
  • Implement the security processes and protocol of the University; may participate in disaster recovery planning and documentation
  • Research present and future technologies; recommend upgrades and enhancements to existing services
  • Recommend and contribute to the development of procedures and guidelines to improve efficiency and effectiveness; may participate and provide information for strategic planning at the unit or user group level
  • Provide training to the end user of new technology or system; may develop training content for complex systems and applications
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
