Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Employee Training Specialist develops and delivers training programs aimed at enhancing employee skills, knowledge, and performance; collaborates with various departments to identify training needs; creates engaging learning materials; ensures that employees are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed.

  • Design, develop, assess, and deliver training resources and programs to meet the needs of specific employee populations
  • Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions, both in-person and virtually, on a variety of topics such as policies, compliance, operational processes and procedures, skill building, new technology, customer service, leadership development, and safety
  • Develop documentation, manuals, guides, visual aids, presentations, and course content that support instruction
  • Collaborate with unit partners and content experts to identify skill sets needed and desired learner outcomes, conduct gap analyses and assessment strategies to determine training needs, understand business needs and context in order to develop relevant and effective training content
  • Collect, measure, and assess customer satisfaction and training outcomes; establish performance metrics; incorporate feedback and performance data into recommendations to improve training delivery
  • Research and maintain knowledge of new software and/or applications to identify new skills needed; determine system utilization requirements that inform training content
  • Manage training program administration including creating training schedules; promoting training opportunities; and establishing processes related to enrollment, communications, records, reporting and feedback collection; manage and maintain the training budget for an assigned unit
  • Develop different instructional delivery options to meet individualized needs and learning styles; apply adult learning and instructional design principles to ensure effective training delivery
  • Support onboarding and new employee engagement processes
  • Provide ongoing support to employees by answering questions and offering additional resources or coaching to reinforce learning
  • Utilize the University's learning management system and other tools to track required licensures/certifications, training progress, and deliver online learning content
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in training and development; suggest opportunities to enhance learning experiences, maintain compliance with regulations and policies
  • Foster positive relationships with external partners, organizations, and community stakeholders to enhance programming opportunities and resources; manage vendor relationships
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management
