Business Systems Manager – Principal Manager (PSU0953)

Job Summary

Business Systems Managers lead a team of technical and functional managers, supervisors, and/or specialists with oversight of an enterprise or large scale application(s); improve operational processes and support critical business strategies by directing the implementation, integration, configuration, and maintenance of application systems; formulate business systems architecture plans, estimate costs, and ensure projects meet strategic need; is accountable for the successful on-time and on-budget completion of project activities and operational support for the application(s).

Representative Duties

  • Direct, plan, organize, and execute the support for critical business applications and associated systems
  • Work with process owners, governance and leadership committees, and other stakeholders to facilitate planning for priorities and needs
  • Ensure that system enhancements and upgrades are delivered and installed to support business needs and operate accurately and efficiently
  • Allocate staff resources as needed to meet goals and implement systems changes so that business operations perform as needed
  • Ensure cross-training and skill development of staff members so that systems run effectively
  • Work with governance groups and functional offices on the development of business requirements and analysis, systems operations, testing, and performance
  • Drive the deployment of feature releases and business process improvements based on the prioritization framework and guidance from business partners
  • Collaborate with commercial software vendors on implementations, upgrades, enhancements, features, configuration, troubleshooting, and bugs
  • Develop, monitor, and report on Service Level Agreements (SLAs), metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Use project management methodologies to work independently and collaboratively with other project team members and across organizational boundaries to complete projects and meet deadlines
  • Lead staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Supervisory Responsibilities:

– Plans, forecasts, develops, and/or approves budgets
– Typically has final signature authority for business unit

– Encounters highly varied and complex problems that may have a significant impact on multiple units and/or the University
– Regularly develops creative and/or novel approaches to resolve the most difficult problems
– Creates an environment that encourages imaginative solutions to problems

– Work results are not clearly defined and may be frequently changing

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 16
  • Minimum – $123,200.00
  • MidPoint – $157,100.00
  • Maximum – $191,000.00

10+ years of relevant experience, includes 5+ years of supervisory experience
